why i do what i do.

I love photography as much as I always have.   When I turned photography into a profession, from a hobby, I worried that it would become less thrilling, mundane, or worse yet, an obligation.  I’ve been lucky…so far it hasn’t felt that way for even a moment, and I hope it never does.  So, why do I do it?  I had a wonderful career as a teacher… I was happy and challenged.  What made me take the leap from teaching into photography?  Why didn’t I just keep it a hobby?  I have two (somewhat) willing and (sort of) cooperative subjects in my house… I could have continued photographing them in my spare time.

Well, it’s because of responses like this one that make me thankful every day that I have the opportunity to photograph families and children, besides just my own:

“Can’t stop smiling.  While I have loved every photo you have taken of my fam, I just have to say these are so in a league of their own.  You have always had a great eye for pics but apparently now you have two!  Simply beautiful!  Now I will scroll through them a thousand times… Thank you a thousand times over!”

I love to share the joy that photography gives me with others.  I love to allow people to see how emotion can truly be conveyed through a photograph.  So, to my wonderful clients, thank you for giving me the opportunity to share this gift with you.
