As most of you know I have 3 kiddos… 2 girls (10 and 8) and a boy (5). The girls share a room. The oldest is mega clean, neat, and organized (I am pretty sure Marie Kondo would LOVE her). Her underwear are folded in thirds, her clothes are color coordinated, everything has it’s proper place, and she LOVES to purge. The middle is ummmm, ummm, not those things. She is a beautiful mess. She is more of the Linus variety from Charlie Brown. And she drives her big sister CRAZY.
Up until December, the girls had a set of bunk beds, 2 tall desks, and a dresser in their shared room. And they CONSTANTLY fought about the condition of the room. “Her bed is unmade.” “She is picking up my clothes and throwing them on my desk.” “I tripped over her shoes.” And on, and on, and on, and … you get the point. Please see these “before” images as evidence.
So, I decided to hire Robin Titus from R. Titus Designs for “The Great Transformation.” We spent a few weeks designing a new shared space, purchasing a few new things, selling a few old things, and then when the kids spent 48 hours away from home, we did a major bedroom renovation.
The result is a gorgeous space that will grow with them. Their favorite colors (black for middle and gold for oldest) accent the room. The curtains down the middle of the room can be left open or they can be drawn down the middle for some privacy. The lower desks helps minimize the hoarding tendencies of kiddo #2. I love everything about this room.
And so do they. But the best part is that they no longer fight. My house is pure bliss. Nothing but a love fest day after day.
Please disregard those last few sentences. They are lies. But Robin did an amazing job with “The Great Transformation” and we couldn’t be happier with the result!
