Let me start by saying I love this family. I love that I have only known them since Big Brother was 5 months old, yet I feel like I’ve known them forever. I also love our photo sessions… even the ones we did way back when I was starting out as a photographer. The lighting was off, the coloring was awful, and don’t even get me started on the focus. So, what is to love about the images, both old and new? I love the “realness” of them, the joy that is captured on their faces, and how very natural they are. Mom never worries about capturing those big cheesy smiles, where they are all looking at the camera- she is totally and 100% herself in front of the camera, and as a result, so are these gorgeous kids (with the most fabulous eyes EVER!). I want to bottle up the feelings from our photo sessions and use it time after time. And no, for those of you wondering, these sessions are not without tears and 100% smiles, because they usually aren’t, but Mom just rolls with it!
So now for the mixed emotions part… They are moving to San Francisco. I am thrilled for them that they get to start a new adventure in their lives, but selfishly I will miss them more than they know. And as I said, I love this family. So, there you have it… mixed emotions and a fabulous session, making it impossible to choose a favorite image to sneak peek. I chose the one below because I think it epitomizes what I am talking about- “realness,” joy, and being natural… allowing me to do what I do best. Modern. Artistic. Candid.
