2019 Learnings and a Glimpse at 2020

It is surreal to think that in a few hours we will be ringing in the new year and a new decade! This year brought a lot of growth to Jessie Hearn Photography, both in clients, experiences and team members (click here to meet them!). Before waving 2019 goodbye, my team sat down with me and asked me to recollect the top learnings this year has given me on both a personal and business level.

#TeamJHP: Biggest learnings from 2019 that has been positive for you personally or for your business?

Jessie: As my business continues to grow, I realized that in order to better serve my clients, I had to grow the JHP team, this allowed me to concentrate on doing what I do best: take photos!

On a personal level, I have been working on work-life balance. All I can say it’s that it is a never-ending process. On the self-care front, I have been doing spin, yoga, orange theory, and meditation.

#TeamJHP: What are you looking forward to leaving behind in 2019

Jessie: Busy season! It’s great, but I’m so glad it’s come to a close!

#TeamJHP: As you look to 2020 are there any resolutions you are willing to share?

Jessie: I want to be more present as a person, a mom, and a business owner. I want to enjoy the moments as they happen. I also want to set boundaries and learn to say no when things are really busy.

I am excited about continuing the Women’s Empowerment project and continuing to grow the newborn side of my business.

#TeamJHP: What are your favorite moments of 2019?

Jessie: There are so many! Meeting new clients, seeing old clients, seeing families grow is always at the top of my list. On a more personal note, my youngest, Asher, started Kindergarten, Macyn, my oldest, started middle school, and Sienna, who’s my middle one, is in 4th grade. It’s the first time in 11 years that all 3 kids are in school full day!

I also enjoyed traveling to Boston, Michigan and to New York to spend time with family and friends.

Not a favorite moment but something that definitely marked 2019 was the passing of our beloved dog Beanie, he was with us for over 14 years and I miss him every day.

#TeamJHP: What are you most proud of in 2019?

Jessie: My new fabulous website and that Jessie Hearn Photography had its busiest year ever! I am very proud of growing the business and photographing more newborns, something I really wanted to do. I am also very proud of asking for help and outsourcing where it made sense, so I can focus on what I’m really good at.

#TeamJHP: What are you most nervous about 2020?

Jessie: I wouldn’t say it’s what’s more nervous about but coming off my best year yet, I want to to set myself up for continued success! I’m excited for all that’s to come in 2020.

Wishing all our clients, friends and family a healthy and happy new year full of adventures and photos to capture those milestones and special moments.
